A 13 year old eigth grader was charged with second degree assault for forcibly grabbing and kissing a 14 year old eighth grade girl at the school. She reported it to the principal's office. The police did not arrest the boy and it will most likely be handled by the school with a suspension. The boy said he was dared to do it.

Was it a "nerdy" boy dared to kiss a real popular cheerleader girl - or a "cool" boy dared to kiss an unpopular girl? No details were given in the various reports.

This has been drilled into kids in school, church, and home to respect others. Basically, it all comes down to peer pressure - and 8th grade boys are - have been - and probably always will be - just kind of stupid.

Charging with assault is legally right but calling police goes too far. A week of suspension handled in-house by the school would have been how to do it
