The cable stations know what viewers like to watch. Look at the great success of The Sopranos". It basically glorified organized crime and had weekly episodes that included graphic violence, just about every word banned from regular television, and nudity.

Would a "Ozzie and Harriet", "Leave it to Beaver", or "Dennis the Menace" get any viewers in prime time?

Personally, I really enjoy "Modern Family".

In short, viewers like these shows! Hollywood knows what sells!
