You don't have to identify yourself. I think what put people off was the posting of a very strong story and then disappearing from the thread, not answering questions. That has happened before on the forum, and it tends to make people suspicious. I now remember the story of your screen not being latched, and perhaps if you had supplied that information earlier on it would have helped people believe in your credibility.
