Default Memories of dressing up for Halloween in school in the fifties.

I am sure that a lot of people remember how much fun it was to dress up on Halloween and wear our costume to school. I remember we marched into other classrooms and then sat and watched as they marched into our classrooms.. The room mothers saw to it we had candy and there was much fun trying to decide who looked the scariest and the funniest.

I don't recall too many out of the box costumes and there were a lot of bums and fancy ladies witches and princesses and things made out of boxes our mom's got at the super market trash bin. If a child didn't have a costume, I am pretty sure the teachers were prepared for that too.

And then Halloween was changed to a Harvest Festival and the costumes were out the door.

It seems that fun was cancelled because it hurt someone's sensibilities I never thought of it as a Devils anything, I loved trick or treat and I still have all of my own teeth after eating all that candy.
