Re: Fraud alert -- must read for Sweetbay customers
About 2 weeks ago I received a fraud alert from my Master Card Company after my card was frozen due to unusual activity. I called the bank and sure enough I had 3 $100 charges for gas in Miami and I have never been in Miami. I could not figure out where my card was lifted from and once I read the article in the Village Sun it became obvious for I did make purchases at SweetBay during December2007 and March 2008.
So look for unusual GAS charges against your card!! Also the press release out out by SweetBay and picked up by the newpaper was aimed at what teh consumer could do to protect his or her interest.....I certainly would have liked to see what Sweetbay was doing or at least get more assurance that Sweetbay was not goingto let this happen or Why did it happen in the first place. I plan to contact the ocal Sweetbay manager and voice my concerns and to tell him that I DID experience a problem and it came form his store...in the Villages !!!
BTW my bank (USAA) was great and took care of all unauthorized charges and the fact that they were on top of this so quick I give them alot of credit.
