The family farm may be in decline - but corporate farming is growing.

The mind altering drug section was a joke.

Skip the doom and gloom but try to put though changes to try and better situations.
The link is a very gloomy read, for sure, but I think a necessary read because it should be used as a warning.

To your point on drugs.....not too sure I agree with you...

This is an article from Business Insider back in August.......

New synthetic drugs - Business Insider

It covers the many and new drugs being introduced and in a big hurry.

I believe the points made on MORAL DECLINE and a WEAK ECONOMIC SYSTEM need to be read and understood.

I do not see it AS GLOOMY as the writer, but I understand the thrust and we all should.

As far as your point on "Skip the doom and gloom but try to put though changes to try and better situations."

These changes are always being brought up and shot down by some group or groups. Our economy is flat....FLAT as a pancake and yet all we talk about is a level playing field, which IS important, but will make no difference if we do not address the basic problems.

We now have a few states that feel it is ok to have mind altering drugs legal and that move continues thus your point on drugs is lost on me.

The following from the link is right on the button.....

"During the objective hardship of the 1930s, there was surprisingly little crime. People were brought up with a conception of morals and right and wrong. Frugality and prudence were prized virtues. Communities were generally fairly cohesive.

Relative to then, society today is undisciplined, unrealistic and selfish."

It is a good article, while I am not a fan of the author and I do agree with you that we should seek answers first but that is becoming a thing of the past.
