Perhaps if that self-opinion is "over-shown" at work, that could be the problem. Perhaps if you are so dissatisfied with your colleagues, you should change workplaces. Those of us who did not receive former posts kindly did not like being lectured to. The way one words something can do wonders toward its acceptance.
I object to your blanket accusation. For example, our kids work their Aspinwalls off. I know many other people who do also. My husband mentors many of them for SCORE.
