This sounds like the water filter scam....

Let's put this into perspective, irrespective of where these are made, the name brand fire/smoke detectors need to be tested to UL standards, good enough for me.

I would do serious research on the brand mentioned before putting a penny on these, not just Google, but also the local Fire Department.
