We have drapes across 21ft of sliding glass doors entering our lanai. That is some 50+ feet of drapes. I hung the drapes and pinned them to length after allowing them to hang on the rod for 2-3 days to assure that they had "relaxed" to full length.

Surprise, the floor is not going to be level!

If you just take them and have them shortened "X" number of inches, you will find they will not appear level with your flooring. I guarantee it!

After pinning them to length I put my sewing machine on a card table and moved it along as I hemmed them on the rod. That way I was assured that they are the same distance from the floor when opened and closed.

It was no small job, but they look like they should. The difference in length from one section to another is much more than I would have expected. I am glad I didn't just hem them "X" number of inches. I would have had to re do them to have them look right and that's a whole lot of stitches to remove and start over.

Good luck!

Excellent advice. I was thinking they were outdoor curtains and going to be outdoors.
