These are the three founders.....

ALICIA GARZA....."Alicia Garza is an activist and writer who lives in Oakland, California. She has organized around the issues of gaining rights for domestic workers, ending police brutality, anti-racism, and violence against trans* and gender non-conforming people of color. Her writing has been published by the Guardian,[1] the Nation,[2] the Feminist Wire,[3] and truthout.org. She is a contributing writer for WarTimes Magazine.[4] She is the Executive Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance as well as a cofounder of the Black Lives Matter movement.[5]"

The magazine she is listed as a contributing writer has this to say about their work...

"War Times/Tiempo de Guerras was started to help broaden and deepen the fight against the Bush Administration response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. We believed then - and believe today - that the regime of permanent war begun under Bush cannot and will not prevent terrorist attacks. We believed then - and still believe - that civilians abroad and poor and working people and communities of color in this country would take the most casualties in a so-called "War on Terror."

She is also the co founder of this group....DIGNITY AND POWER FOREVER

"Dignity and Power Now (DPN) is a grassroots organization based in Los Angeles that fights for the dignity and power of incarcerated people, their families, and communities. In doing so DPN wages a fight for all lives because the prison industrial complex forms an imaginative limit on everyone’s capacity to envision freedom and liberation."

ABOUT | Dignity and Power Now

"Opal Tometi is a Black feminist writer, communications strategist and cultural organizer. She is a co-founder of #BlackLivesMatter, the historic political project and leader-full network was launched in the wake of the murder of Trayvon Martin in order to explicitly combat implicit bias and anti-black racism and to protect and affirm the beauty and dignity of all Black lives. Ms. Tometi is currently at the helm of the country’s leading Black organization for immigrant rights, the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI), a national organization that educates and advocates to further immigrant rights and racial justice together with African-American, Afro-Latino, African and Caribbean immigrant communities."
