I am extremely well aware that many people judge you by what job you do. People must be aware though that this is not a fair nor just world and that sometimes circumstances beyond people's control make keeping gainful employment difficult. All kinds of factors can play into this. Sometimes, it is mental illness.

I believe a lot of the people who have been found to be innocent of capital crimes had done something against the interests of a small group. Rather than right the wrong they have done, they cover up their actions with whatever means possible. Small conspiracies do occur in the US if the people have the motive, power, and opportunities to pull these off.
