Regarding the nature and character of an atheist being a better person than a Christian, I am happy for you. THE PERSON YOU QUOTED DID NOT SAY THAT. I've never said that a person is evil because they did not believe as I do. I've never heard of anyone claiming that atheists were bad people. But, being a good person doesn't save you.

But the thread is about Carson and his ability to lead our nation. Even though I do not believe he is ready for the job (neither is Obama) I do not disqualify him from my vote due to his religious faith. As a matter of fact, I consider it to be a positive attribute. Of course, if he had a history of being raised in a Muslim environment or attended a hate spewing church, then I would consider that to be a definite liability. I do believe that Carson is a better person to represent us than Obama, Hilary or Sanders, just based on his ideology. But, it's not his religious faith that I use as a disqualifying factor.

If Carson was an atheist, I would probably consider that to be a negative, since I still believe that if one does not believe in a creator, how can one believe in America, or believe in freedom and liberty? But, that's just my opinion and my considerations when I vote. I don't vote for the first of anything, whether the first black man, first woman or first gay. If my candidate fits one of those criteria, then so be it. But, I don't consider being the first makes one the best, or even good for the position in itself.

So, debate your belief/non-belief if you wish, and I will debate the merits of the candidate.
