You asked if anyone knew for sure. I posted a link to the answer.
A couple of weeks ago new phone books came in the mail. There were large piles of books at the Polo Ridge Postal (all new). People took them out of their boxes and piled them on the ground. I watched them.
OP said place in trash. The District recommends recycling. I don't tell people
where to put them..... but would like too!
