*sigh* whether or not someone feels clotheslines are unsightly is strictly their opinion. There are folks in Maine who think old cars, fridges, tires and bathtubs used for the Virgin Mary are not unsightly.
When you sign for your house here you agree to abide by the HOA rules and regs governing what is considered unsightly. When you do that you agree to them. You don't like the rules then you shouldn't have moved here and then tried to change them.
"House hunters considering gated communities might not agree. These buyers tend to like rules about what their neighbors can do with their property. “They like that the next door neighbor will have to keep his lawn a certain way or that the house across the street will be painted only certain colors,” Chafatelli said."
Actually you are incorrect in the assessment that others just want to be able to tell others what to do. Most of us just like neat and clean. It seems to me that those who move here knowing the rules(as they signed the agreement and only fools don't read what they sign)are trying to tell us what we must look at even though we follow the rules and regs. How is that any different than what Chafatelli says?????
Ignorance is no excuse for trying to force your ideas of what and what is not appropriate.
