Well the OP got the natives restless again.

I have been driving the multi-modal paths with a need for headlights and in all kinds of weather for over 9 years now and have been guided by foilage and grass on either side of the path that defines well the width of the path. Reflectors work well for curves, areas where contour cause them to jut out and where the multi-modla path have center medians . The problem with night driving is more of headlights hitting you head on and stripping is not going to solve that issue.

One poster wrote slow down when driving at night and when it rains. "Speeding too fast for conditions" is often cited as a contributing factor when an accident occurs. If I truly believed side stripping would be worth the investment then I would reply in the affirmative . But the problem with multi-modal paths is intrinsic in its label
