I was definitely on the opposite side of his politics. However, I admired his talent. I remember when I heard he was in the beginning stages of Alzheimers and his courage in coming forward that he had it. I'd never written a fan letter in my entire life, but I did send him one thanking him for his courage in telling people he had it. Surprisingly, I got a very nice note from him.
He was a star in the true sense of stars.
I'm with Kathie, The Greatest Show on Earth was an awesome movie. Another favorite movie of mine was Soylent Green.
So, hail to a grand actor and a true star. May his talent always be there for all to see.
