What conversation would that be?

There was no compromise in Obama's first two years, because it takes both parties to give a little, and the Republicans would not have any of that. He worked hard to get Republicans on board in the AFC, and the only one that would even listen was Olympia Snow from Maine. Obstruction was the name of the game in the first four years of his presidency.

Being called a liberal doesn't bother me at all. The truth as you see it isn't the truth in the real world. I could be wrong, but I don't remember word one about my political beliefs as being liberal, conservative, or far right or left.

Reagan was a conservative Republicans looked up to. Now, he would be considered a moderate due to his working with the Democrats to get things done. Republicans that want government to work by working with the other party are RINOs. They are realists. You are not going to get your way 100% of the time in a two party system.

Concerning Fox News, they call all the other news organizations the liberal press. Maybe they are number one, because, in their words, they have no competition for the Republican viewers. The problem that I have with Fox News is if you are going to say that you are "fair and balanced", then act that way. Is that being naïve? "Fair and balanced" has no meaning. I have said it many times the only news program I watch is Morning Joe. You know Joe Scarborough, the RINO. You will get both sides of an issue there. At the gym, and dentist office, I have to watch Fox News, and I go away shaking my head all the time.

Wanting a balanced budget isn't the sole goal of the far right or the Republican party. It is the goal of both parties. The problem is on how to get there. When you sign a pledge that you will not raise taxes, that trumps your belief of getting a balanced budget. The Democrats will not allow you to cut social programs, and social programs only to get to a balanced budget. Wanting a balanced budget, and being totally inflexible on how to get there is stupidity of the highest order.

Who the hell wants dangerous drugs in the hands of children? Where did this come from? The Bible, Communism, and slavery when have they recently ever become an issue?

Concerning immigration, deporting all illegal immigrants is a right wing belief with some conservative, and moderate followers. The bipartisan Senate bill gave a path to citizenship for the illegals as long as they followed the steps in the law. The Senate bill was not brought to the floor by Boehner, because of the Hastert rule. The far right was the one that blocked the bill going to the floor for a vote.

Isn't helping the less fortunate a Christian belief? Then, why are social programs that help the less fortunate the first ones on the chocking block to go?

I am not trying to convince people of anything. If they think that only their views are correct, then they won't listen to a word that I say. There is a world that exist outside of their bubble. Whether they want to believe it or not is totally up to them. In any case, I really don't give a damn.
Excellent post! It buoys my spirits to see posters like you on this forum. Many of us think like you, but its just not worth the time and effort required to respond to the conservatives on this forum. We have to remember, that the Villages is a bubble, leaning conservative. But the rest of the country is much more free thinking. Thank you for posting.
