I just went through the Windows 10 upgrade, and it went surprisingly well, except for one item. W10 no longer supports Optical drives (DVD or CD), had to load a third party app for that. However, this updated everything on the computer, and kept all of my existing software, favorites etc.
Also, you can update IE yourself through the windows update function.
