I don't think the online newspaper is characterizing The Villages as "something it is not".
Yes, some of the reporting is "sensationalized", but readers have a choice. They can choose not to read the Crime Section.
And since Gracie's contact says it the area with the most hits, I assume a lot of people are interested in what crimes are being committed in and around TV.
