First a lawyer in Texas filed a lawsuit concerning the "natural born" issue related to Ted Cruz's birth. His personal political choice he claims is Bernie Sanders. Frankly I hope there are more lawsuits because for the protection of America and because this issue has been raised at least three times in the last 10 years or so the definition of natural born which has never been adjuicated needs to be defined once and for all.

As to Cruz himself. He is well rehearsed. He is an excellent debater and has been from his high school days. He uses his evangical roots to add to the drama of his debating skills. He is an excellent Constitutional lawyer (but that was also the claim made by others for Obama).

On the other hand I sense that he is too slick and he changes course on a dime (for/against issues to gain popular vote). I see him as divisive. I don't like that he gave up his citizenship in 2014. To me that is not American enough but the act of an opportunist.

I don't care what happened in the past. I am trying to focus on each and every presidential candidate to decide as best as once can who will represent America's interests the best? Who will advance policies and make decisions that regain ground lost in the last eight years? Who will step into this position ready willing and able to perform? Everything else is just noise and idle chatter to satisfy the news media printed or digital form.

Personal Best Regards:
I completely agree with you. However, I will make a couple of points, not to argue but to add.
The point of a politician is to represent us, so I can't really fault one for changing course, IF it is really for the majority of his voters. Big IF.
Bill Clinton also gave up his citizenship when he was avoiding the draft when he left the country to attend school in Europe during the Vietnam conflict.
Not that this has much relevance to Cruz.

But, I do agree on how "slick" Cruz appears. He is a good debater, but would he be a good president? He can't even seem to get alone with his peers in congress. How would he work with democrats? Perhaps he would be another Obama?
