Obviously you've never been an employer in the restaurant-bar or fast-food business, trying to hire only employees of utmost, sterling character.
Splash their name and picture across the front page of a newspaper because they got drunk and mouthy, or high,
and see how that "publicity" (which some villagers on here salivate for) helps them be employable once they pay their fines and complete their sentences.
