The best website to check out nonprofits is Guidestar.org. You can sign up for a free account which gives access to basic information, including IRS Form 990.
I stopped contributing to Wounded Warrior Project several years ago because of the CEOs very high salary and some other unusual financial practices. This organization is based in Jacksonville.
