As a Home Health Care RN, we see many patients of Dr Mascarenhas and they seem to do very well. His treatment seems to be a little different than other surgeons we see in the area. His office is located in the Tavares/Eustis area and he operates at Waterman hospital. His patients seem really happy with him. And don't forget Moffett Cancer Center in Tampa. I understand this is devastating to your wife presently, but tell her we see many more positive outcomes than negative in this day and age. (You can Google his name and you will find his practice and reviews + background/training, etc. He uses a procedure called SAVI which is a 5 day treatment of radiation, directly into the site of the tumor. There are a few factors that determine if this is the correct procedure for a particular patient, and he will discuss this with you.)

I wish your wife (and you) the best outcome of this horrible news. 4 1/2 years ago I received the same news so I know how scary it is. I went to Dr. Mascarenhas to do my surgery and I agree that he was fantastic. He did recommend the SAVI treatment of 5 or 7 days of localized radiation that I had done at Intercommunity Cancer Center, who was also wonderful. My oncologist is Dr. Tummala in Leesburg (and the villages) and as I head towards my five year clean mark, I will continue to see Dr. Tummala's PA, Susan, forever. I must admit of all the problems with doctors I have had in The Villages, my cancer treatment was the best experience considering how scary the whole idea was to me. I did reach out to BTK because I knew of his wife's successful treatment, so I highly recommend to reach out to other women in this area to hear of their experiences. God knows, there are so many of us now.
