There is much more that can be found here:
RODRIGUEZ v. CITY OF CLERMONT | Leagle.com

and the jury result is here:

Quote:
Rodriguez, hired in January 2004 and still employed by Clermont police, sought punitive and compensatory damages for "blatant" humiliation he said he endured from Radi, his patrol sergeant.

The lawsuit claimed Radi criticized Rodriguez' English, taunted him for using "spanglish" in written incident reports and directed him not to listen to " salsa" music in his patrol car, according to federal court documents.

The trial began Monday in federal court in Ocala.

Radi resigned last year while his police supervisors were investigating his role in the handling of a suspect who was arrested and then "un-arrested" in a DUI case. The suspect had been left unsupervised in a jail cell.

Clermont officials said Radi's conduct in that case violated department policies.

The discrimination case was filed in federal court after Rodriguez claimed he was bypassed for a promotion to field training officer, a position that includes a pay increase. Clermont police Chief Steve Graham and City Manager Wayne Saunders were among the witnesses who testified during the three-day trial.
We can take various quotes.

I am going by what I heard in that court room.

This is the case though.

I heard the Judge's outline of it and that is about all. I have seen the various press reports as well.

The Judge outlined the case to the Jury Panel and asked us questions about our experiences with police, whether we knew any of the people involved, etc.

From the article in the Orlando Sentinel it did involve Rodriquez using Spanish in his reports and the humiliation he experienced for using that language in these reports. Where do you get the idea that Rodriquez did not want to put Spanish in his reports????

I remember maybe one other Villager in that court room??? There was a woman Villager on the panel if I am remembering the people on there correctly. This was in January 2010.
