I understand that rules are rules and that normally this practice shouldn't be allowed, but in this case it wasn't hurting anything and it was very temporary.
So it is not allowed by community standards but if you do it, you will only told not to if someone complains. As far as I know there is no punishment for breaking any of these rules as long as you comply when you are first told to do so.
