Semi DIY
If you are willing to do some of the ordering work yourself, the path we used may be of interest:
1. Have Norm, The Blind Man, measure the windows for you
2. Order the motorized shades on-line. We used Shadesshuttersblinds.com
3. Have Norm install them for you.
The shades we used have Somfy motors and are of a good quality, For the large windows in the lanai, I suggest you consider 110V motors. For the door in the lanai or windows in the house, the battery powered (8 Li AA batteries) or 12V power supply is adequate.
We installed sunshades in the lanai and blackout shades elsewhere in the house (the blackout shades fit between the window and plantation shutters). You can buy handheld remotes or an interface to convert the Somfy wireless format to Z-Wave to connect to a home automation system, which we have done.
For the 110V shades in the lanai, we had an electrician run power from the breaker box to surface mounted conduit and outlets above the lanai windows. Then we had Creative Custom Carpentry construct a cornice to cover the conduits and outlets.
PM me if you want more information or to take a look at our installation.
