Amazing! The pledge of allegiance to the American flag by schoolkids is really just a rote exercise and has no meaning to them. Also, if foreign students are in that class, why would they be forced to pledge allegiance to a foreign flag? Basically, it is a worthless exercise for kids. I have never heard of an "international flag pledge".

Regarding the white men are evil diatribe. Look at the Spanish conquistidores, the Western expansion of the USA called "Manifest Destiny", the imprisoning of Japanese US citizens during WWII just to name a few. Lots of evil things have happened but schools also teach what achievements have occurred.

You may not recognized the many men and women who gave treasure and blood to permit you to openly blog your thoughts on this forum? As to pledging allegiance to an international flag a PSC school in New York did just that took an American flag and pasted foreign flags on it stripes and made the kids in that school pledge to an international flag. You apparently do not know how dangerous an act that is because your not following its intent to its illogical conclusion. and because you may not be aware that many progressives are aiming for an international community. As you point out men/women do bad things have and always will but America is the one place where such injustices are eventually reconciled.
You also omit that your judgment of these matters is based on today's political environment. I am of American Italian descent yet while my father and Uncles (1st generation) fought in WWII there had been an early attempt to place Italians along with Germans and Japanese in such camps.
They were the enemy then. There was confusion paranoia Pearl Harbor German U boats entering American ports. Many Japanese and Germans regret what their forefather wrought

Have you ever heard one Italian complain. Italian like many Europeans faced prejudice when immigrating here but turned their fruits of labor to purpose and not claiming civil rights but earning their way to community.
