Power is the reason no one has dared bomb us. But, don't forget 9/11. I hate war also, but I served in the military more than once BECAUSE I didn't want my family to have to experience war at home. You can argue all you wish, but if you are weak, bullies will take advantage of you. We don't war on countries just to protect ourselves. We also war on others to protect or support our allies. If you have a problem with that, then you are not as liberal and caring as you boast.
