Gander, that was one of main reasons for looking into FL too! Wanted to be near the ports to just take off. Your route on the Med. Cruise is different than ours. We left from Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Florence, Venice, and Rome, Croatia then to Corfu. We did not go to Turkey or Eygpt (though I would love to.) Only advice I would give is to remember how little our dollar is worth. Everything was so much more expensive then from the previous times we had gone. (Not by Cruise) And in Italy, don't miss the Amalfi Drive Excursion. It's breathtaking! Also, in Rome and Monte Carlo we hired a private driver and saw much much more than the excursions had to offer. Let me know if I can give you any more info. Feel free to pm me. Bon Voyage!
