I don't know if it has anything to do with wealth. I am not wealthy by financial standards, although I am blessed and wealthy in regards to being able to afford to retire comfortably, so far. And I guess I am blessed and wealthy when it comes to my health. I don't that your financial standing makes a difference when it comes to respect. I may be wrong, but I haven't noticed a difference. Of course, the local pet troll on here, has been disrespectful to others on here, using their age in some of his insults, but I doubt he would have the courage or then inclination to be like that in public. In many cases, manners are a face to face thing.
