They just had a big article about the whole house surge protectors in the Orlando Sentinel. I checked my notes and noticed that I forgot to mention it. Just to qualify - the whole house surge protectors are not good for a lightning strike on the house. They are only good for incidental strikes - from a tree or the ground coming through the electrical lines into the house. Sorry I cannot be more technical but these strikes will be more common than a lightning strike on the house.
