Definitely, it is most important to have an independent laboratory check water samples from your pool - and quickly, too.
As for having the testing paid for by "whomever is responsible", just wait for the test results. The testing is for your peace of mind and cannot cost too much. If there is contamination shown to be of the same kind as in the irrigation water, then call an attorney.
Main thing - get the water tested quickly!
