The average point count for the group matters, a lot. I play in a friday group where some players with high point counts for the week are excluded otherwise the tee time request will be denied, and nobody plays. If the average point count for the group approaches 3 you may have difficulty getting a tee time on the executive courses during snowbird season.
The following are tips to getting tee times, in no particular order:
1) Low average point count
2) No guests
3) Broad time window
4) Lots of courses
