Men and women aren't equal, not by a long shot. If it wasn't for the overwhelming urge to keep one around for sex, we'd have killed women off long ago. It's a "can't live with them, can't kill them off either conundrum.

Take a group of average men and a group of average women and have them compete. The men will win just about every time. Unless the test is biased. In real world situations, the men invariably win.
