If those 'grassy areas' are your neighbors lawns - beware the rogue sprinkler systems that erupt as your dog enters the area; and the ground hot pepper sprinkled along the lawn edge your dog might sniff; and any other ingenius device[s] folks might be using to keep dogs off their property! My guess is that your dog would prefer the booties.
