If you understand that the use of that vulgar term is representative of the homosexual deviancy, then don't try to disparage others with the term. Then you won't be called out for it. If you call someone that you perceive as conservative a vulgar gay term, then don't expect that person to sit back and accept that slur without a retaliatory comment. If you are civil then you will get civil in return.
