Just as much as I believe that almost all Golden Retrievers have a genetic predisposition to gentleness and Border Collies have a lively intelligence and some little doggies to barkiness.
Gracie, again we are in total agreement. If I say I don't trust pitbulls I am automatically treated as if I hate the breed...What people don't seem to understand is the (as you stated) genetic predispositions in the various breeds, eg. Dachshunds burrow, retrievers retrieve, beagles hunt, greyhounds run fast, etc..etc. If I have a child I would choose a breed that is known to play well with kids. I would not get a Chow, or a little dog that is easily frightened or a Pitbull. I would not take even the slightest chance on a dog breed that is known to attack and not stop until they have killed. I personally think that anyone that takes this chance with their children has serious problems. Why take the chance??????. I don't care if 90 out of a hundred are the best dogs in the whole world, I wouldn't risk my child for that 10%. All they have to do is look at statistics regarding dog bites and attacks. I don't get it.
