Yes, that is my understanding. The program pays all attorney's fees for both criminal and civil trials, but if you lose they do
not pay any damages or judgments rendered against you.
They also cover mistrials and retrials, but
not appeals.
Coverage includes "use" which is not necessarily firing the gun (pistol or long gun) but may be the simple lawful display of the gun to discourage an aggressor who is threatening you.
Basically, this is coverage for attorney's fees, and for immediate (24/7) telephone access to an attorney if you have an incident. They also give you a wallet card with the statement you are to repeat to the police investigators to hold them at bay until you talk to your attorney.
They also offer seminars on Florida Firearms Law (in our case) and a book on Florida Firearms Law as well as access to a video library and an Attorney/Member Forum.
Minor children (unlikely in The Villages) can be added for a fee, and multi-state (all 50 states and DC) coverage can be added for people who travel for an additional $35 a year.
You can sign up for a monthly newsletter at no extra cost and can contact the Program Attorneys with non-emergency questions.
