I'm not familiar with the product you are spraying but those hose end sprayers do not work well with powdered products unless the product completely dissolves-such as miragrow or other similar products. It is also possible that your sprayer is clogged from previous use. Easy fix. Put your finger over where the spray comes out. Turn on water at low flow. Water with no other place to go will come out the hose that draws the chemical into the spray head and it will flush out.
At best that type of sprayer goes about 20 feet. If, your tree is higher than that, you need a trombone type sprayer. As it has a screen where it draws up chemistry it does not get plugged as easily as a hose end sprayer. You may be able to get a trombone sprayer from one of the farm supply places such as Sparr. Or they can be bought mailorder. I will guess they cost like $50 today. Yet, another thing I regret leaving behind with our previous house.
