They really are not guards at all, and don't pose as guards. And I actually find them to be helpful and friendly. Think of them as "entry ambassadors." They have no authority and put up with all matter of insults from the same people who probably abuse golf course ambassadors- who also have no authority and put up with all matter of insults.
