Have met a lot of former New York Staters here in the Villages as well as some snow birds who go back to somewhere in NY State. Hope that they will get interested in this topic as well and check on your local NY State public library to see if they have resources that would help someone just affected by a rape, sexual assault, elder abuse, fraud, car jacking, murder of a loved one, etc.

I have bugged librarians about this issue all over the world since 1992 or so but am just one person so I have not had that much of an impact on many libraries and their holdings in this subject area. I have had some but not as much as I would have liked.

I have found TOTVers to be compassionate people with sometimes strong opinions and no fear about stating these, so I hope that some TOTVers are interested in this.

I also put in some more requests today for a link to the FL Victim Services Directory http://myfloridalegal.com/directory at both Sumter http://sumtercountyfl.gov/libraries/links.htm and Marion County's http://www.marioncountyfl.org/Library/LI_home.htm Library Systems which are here in parts of the Villages. Lake County Library System has a link and put it in just a few days after I put in a request for it. http://www.lakeline.lib.fl.us/intern...oryCategory=24

Received a response from Buffalo, NY's public library system on May 5, 2008 via email. They are looking into it but this does not always mean that a link like the one I suggested will happen.
New York State sure has an awful lot of libraries. And some of the links from the New York Public Library list I am using are dead ends. http://www.publiclibraries.com/newyork.htm This is keeping me busy when I am not reading or posting on TOTV.

Still hope that TOTVers from New York will take an interest in this help for survivors/victims of crimes in the guise of a link to the New York State Crime Victims Board Program Locator. http://www.cvb.state.ny.us/HelpforCr...eaProgram.aspx

Have heard nothing back yet from my various emails to Sumter County Florida librarians about a link to the FL Victim Services Directory http://myfloridalegal.com/directory from the Sumter County Library website. http://sumtercountyfl.gov/libraries/links.htm

I suppose having this information on TOTV does make a lot more people aware of this resource though.
