Same thing happened to me on May 19th, but at the Marathon station at Pinellas Plaza on 466A.
The other driver gave me his insurance info, he had Travelers. Said he was very sorry, but his foot missed the brake. He had a stiff leg and was using a cane and was driving a red convertible with the top down.
When I got home I called my insurance company, USAA. They said since it wasn't your fault and you have $1000 deductible, I'll call Travelers for you. About an hour later Traverlers called and asked if anyone was hurt, said no. This was a Thursday and they said an estimator would be out Monday.
He arrived Monday on time. Looked over the car and under. Within about 30 minutes he gave me a detailed estimate for $1200 with parts with labor. Since I drive a Hyundai, I said should I take the car there. He said, go anywhere you like, but we recommend in this area Car Guys in Lady Lake.
I called Car Guys, the woman said we are connected to the Traverlers network, give me your ID number on the estimate. She pulled the estimate up on her computer. This was Monday about 3pm, she said can you bring the car in on Wednesday about 8:30, I said no problem. I said you can get parts in a day or two, and she said yes.
I took the car in Wednesday morning and said they should have the car ready on Friday. The office called Enterprise Rent-a-car and they came and picked me up and took me to their LSL store. I was given a Hyundai Sonna to drive paid by Travelers.
Car Guys called back on Thursday and said after they looked underneath the car, not only was the bumper that is hidden under the plastic bumper was cracked, which the estimater had spotted, but the trunk was also slightly dented. They called Travelers and the estimater went back to Car Guys and he called me and said he has approved another $1200 in repairs.
Car Guys called and said with those addition repairs and Monday being Memorial Day, we won't have it ready until Wednesday or Thursday. I said fine.
On Wednesday afternoon they called and said the car was ready. I said I'll just come in tomorrow, Thursday, after lunch and pick up the car. On Thursday I went to Enterprise and turned in the car, they said you owe nothing. They gave me a ride to Car Guys and my car was ready, fixed and cleaned. I couldn't be more happy with Car Guys.
They are a local operation with 5 locations and the owner was years of experience in the Tampa area and sold that operation for millions of dollars and started this new company in Ocala and now Lady Lake and a couple of others.
