As for your link above... It's demographics. Women and minorities have increased their percentages in universities through affirmative action and quotas. White men went from being a majority to a minority. The majors have changed from STEM to the humanities and women's/minority's studies. It's demographics.
Besides, our educators and educational system is now #17 in the world. Not the best any more.
