I guess the security man either did not tell his boss about the alligator or Disney management chose to ignore the potential problem.

There are gators all over Florida. They roam all over. That Lagoon and waterways around Disney are huge. There is no possible way to keep gators out.
There are signs saying no swimming. My heart breaks for the parents.
