I have read many previous posts and was confused about what would cause the taxes to go up.

Went to Sumter County Tax Appraiser and was told:
ONLY removing your sliders between the house and lanai would cause your taxes to increase.

Adding a/c does not cause tax increase.

But new regulations since Jan. 1, 2015 state if you add a/c the glass must be low-e glass.
So you went to the Sumter County Appraiser, and now you come here? Prepare to become more confused.

Here is my take on this ... The sliders between your house and lanai are an exterior door. Therefore you lanai is assessed as a covered porch. If you remove the sliders then the lanai is assessed as another room in your house, thereby increasing your assessment.
