Default Bird Droppings at Rec Centers?

I was having dinner with neighbors tonight and this rather exciting subject came up -- I guess a comment on how unexciting the general conversation was. Anyway, one of the ladies said that on several recent visits to our local Rec Center pool (Allamanda), the area was covered with bird excrement --- on the tables, chairs, ground all around the pool, everywhere. And she said the place had been closed just a few days previously for a cleaning. Another lady commented that this was not a problem specific to Allamanda, that other Rec Centers she'd visited were just as bad. (No comment at all about why the women notice this stuff but we guys remain obtuse) Yet another of the ladies said that in previous life visits to Florida, she had seen pools with wires strung above them in a manner that discouraged the birds from frequenting the place. I didn't give it a lot of thought at the time, as hard as that might be to believe, but since then I've wondered a bit about it. Wouldn't the wire, in fact, attract the damned birds much like a power line does? Has anyone ever seen wires used in such a manner? Is bird excrement really that big of a problem? Should someone suggest to the CDD that they look into the bird wire solution?

Gawd I've got to get some kind of a life. Here I am sitting at my computer at 3:20 AM thinking about bird :edit:. Beats arguing politics.

Life is like a sewer. What you get out of it depends upon what you put into it.
