Re: What is your party affiliation?
So far on TOTV I've seen "jokes" and commentary regarding:
1. Political parties - members are smart, dumb, insightful, blind, etc.
2. Candidates - attacking or ridiculing their personal beliefs, their ages, occasional errors during speeches
3. Religion in general - demeaning others' beliefs, ceremonies, attitudes
4. Gender - linking hair color, age, and [the list is too long....] to silliness
5. Ethnicity - linking [the list is too long....] groups to dumb acts
I guess "humor" spans the gamut, and what some (usually not of the referenced persuasion) consider "funny" is despicable to others (usually of the referenced persuasion). The aggrieved are usually expected to "get over it," especially regarding # 3, 4 and 5 above.
It's also peculiar that what passes so often as "humor" when delivered by a non-candidate would be tantamount to heresy should any candidate whisper anything similar, with the rope, tar and feathers coming from most quarters.
I guess the conduct and deportment standards we require of the candidates in the public arena (which appears to be anywhere in earshot) are radically different than what we place upon "ourselves" in forums like TOTV - and should that be so???
