While counter-intuitive, mosquitoes are a bigger problem in northern Canada and Alaska than most places...than would seem possible.

Apparently the water and muskeg are ideal habitat, but it's hard to understand how they survive such brutal cold.

Mosquitoes have been known to actually stampede herds of caribou, which when you think about it...is pretty darn amazing.

The massive amount of skeeters I've encountered on numerous fishing trips to northern Canada and Alaska, are insane and a good guide will always provide a mosquito hat.

Anything with less than 98% DEET....is simply candy to these skeeters.
