I hope they contact their Congresspersons and the White House to say: STAY OUT OF THIS!

While there is no question that the Darfur situation is bleak, it has been bleak for a long time. While there are questions regarding the US' active involvement in the Mideast, and maintaining bases in South Korea, Japan, Germany, Italy, England, Spain, various sites in Central and South America, and other locations in the world, and being diplomatically involved (including foreign aid) elsewhere, adding the African interior into the mix may be the proverbial "straw."

The "what can we as a country do" other than donate food (which is stolen and then resold) or money "(which is just stolen, period) is a lousy situation. More people get ticked off at the US when donated food bagged in "Product of the US" or "Gift from the US" bags are sold at scalawag prices to locals - making us look like we are in league with the thieves.

This is an African problem, followed by an Islamic nations problem, followed by a European (by proximity and past colonial relations) problem, and if that abomination has ANY purpose on this planet, a United Nations problem. Just because Hollywood wants to show a caring side (and make a buck on it along the way), doesn't make it a US Taxpayers' problem.

There will be folk who will say that the US would be more than happy to get involved if those who were to get the aid weren't black - and that would be an insult to all of us. The US has spent many fortunes in Africa. The Peace Corps has spent more effort in Africa than anywhere. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has been at the forefront of improving the lives of all Africans since its inception.

There is little one can do when tribal bigotry and envy dominate an area, where those on top make it great for their tribal allies, and hell on earth for the others. Add into that mix the illiteracy rate and you have a deadly mess. Also, someone is making money selling arms and ammunition to all factions - and where is that money coming from and who's making a profit on it? Let's see Hollywood expose that in High Definition!
