Re: Lowering Gas Prices
The US has plenty of oil. Alaska, this new discovery in ND, offshore reserves, and probably more. Until we get our elected officials (read that as Congress and Senate) to vote as you want them to vote, you will pay until we stop this country in its tracks. Gas will continue to cost more until it reaches $10 a gallon or more. We need to drill in our own backyard, we need to build more refineries, we need more nuclear power, and we need to stop sending all our money to the Mideast. Our $$$ are worth less, and EVERYTHING will cost you more. Food, products, housing, cars, and everything you use. And those of you on a fixed income with suffer most.
I am not suggesting we shouldn't also conserve, use solar and wind, improve gas milage and tides and any other way we can to be more independent, but at current course and speed it will get a lot worse before it gets better. Think about how long it takes to get any of these things built and in production. Drill an oil well, build refinery capability, nuclear power plant, are all 5 and 10 year lead times. We will face higher prices for at least the next 5 years if we start today. However we will not start until the current makeup or our congress and senate changes. The people we have there today don't care what happens to you, only how they can spend your money on useless pork barrel projects.
Remember if we started today you would not see any price relief for 5 years at best. Go look at the voting records and see who is stopping getting these things done before you vote. Environmental friendly and global warming need to considered and use "green" methods to get this energy, but right now it is costing all of us far more than necessary because of lack of action by our elected officials.
